New Jersey man arrested for shoplifting at Rehoboth Outlets
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A New Jersey man has been charged after being identified as a suspect in a felony shoplifting at the Rehoboth Outlets.
On May 31st, troopers responded to the Nike Factory Store on Bayside Outlet Drive for a reported shoplifting. It was learned that earlier in the afternoon, two men had walked into the store and hid 28 pairs of shoes inside two shopping bags before fleeing without paying.
On June 29th, the same two suspects reportedly returned to the Nike Outlet and stole nine additional pairs of shoes. The pair stole a total of 37 pairs of shoes, worth nearly $4,000.
Surveillance video and images led police to identify one of the suspects as 22-year-old Maicol Matias-Peña of Bridgeton, New Jersey. Matias-Peña was arrested on July 15th by New Jersey State Police and was extradited to Delaware on Thursday, where he was charged with shoplifting over $1500, shoplifting under $1500, and organized retail crime.
He was later released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.
