Magnolia man arrested for armed robbery at Best Buy
DOVER, Del. – A Magnolia man is behind bars after police say he robbed Dover Best Buy Thursday afternoon.
Just before 4:30 p.m., police were called to respond to the Best Buy located at 1165 North DuPont Highway for an armed robbery that had just occurred. An employee told police that the suspect entered the store, pulled out a handgun, and demanded they turn over an iPhone. The employee complied and gave the suspect the iPhone and other property.
The suspect reportedly dropped the phone while running from the scene and fled in a silver Ford Fusion with Delaware registration.
Officers located the vehicle a short time later on southbound North DuPont Highway in the area of East Division Street. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle allegedly failed to stop and continued driving southbound to River Road, where it crashed into another vehicle. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Javon Williams, then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot toward the Relax Inn. He surrender when a Dover Police K-9 and his handler arrived at the scene.
Detectives found clothing and property from the robbery inside of Williams’ vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, and several other related charges.
Williams is being held at SCI on a $73,100 secured bail.
