Laurel man arrested for liquor store burglary

LAUREL, Del. – A Laurel man is behind bars in connection to a burglary that took place earlier this month.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on July 13th, troopers responded to Lakeshore Wine and Spirits, located at 30728 Sussex Highway, for a reported burglary. The investigation revealed that an unknown man broke a window to the business and stole merchandise before fleeing the scene.

Through investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as 30-year-old Shawn Jones.

On Tuesday, Laurel Police notified Delaware State Police that they had Jones in custody for a theft investigation in their jurisdiction. He was subsequently charged with third degree burglary, criminal mischief, and second degree criminal trespass, and was held at SCI on a $3,000 secured bond.
