Dodgers draft former Cape Henlopen Viking Jake Gelof in 2nd round; Rays select Decatur Grad Hayden Snelsire in 17th round

BERLIN, Md– Two former Delmarva baseball players have been drafted into the MLB. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected former Cape Henlopen Viking Jake Gelof with pick 60. He spent two years with the Vikings, winning a DIAA State Title in his sophomore season before transferring to IMG Academy. He then enrolled at the University of Virginia where he became UVA’s all-time home run leader while also earning multiple All-American honors in his three years in Charlottesville.

The Tampa Bay Rays drafted Stephen Decatur Grad Hayden Snelsire in the 17th round.  In high school, he was the 2019 Conference Pitcher of the Year & was a part of the  Seahawks’ 2017 Bayside South Conference champions. Snelsire went 8-2 with a 2.99 ERA with 18 walks and 107 strikeouts in 69.1 innings his senior year at Randolph-Macon College.
