‘I wanted to let them know I care:’ Del. Tom Hutchinson assisting storm victims in Tilghman Island
TILGHMAN ISLAND, Md.- Monday night storms rolled through Talbot County and left many picking up the pieces. Maryland Delegate Tom Hutchinson took a trip to the area Tuesday to lend a helping hand.
He tells 47ABC he was shocked by the amount of damage, but he says he was happy to see recovery efforts were well underway including the American Red Cross assisting those in need of shelter.
Delegate Hutchinson also tells us his office has been in contact with local, state, and federal officials to assist with recovery. “Unfortunately, I think what has to happen next is that we have to get the insurance companies to do the assessments and check damages before a lot of the debris can be removed,” Delegate Hutchinson said.
“I wasn’t sure what I was going to discover when I got there, what their needs were, or what help was needed. I just wanted to let them know that I cared, and I was there. I’ll certainly be back up this week to check on the assessment and see what else we can provide to them.”
Hutchinson tells us The Maryland Insurance Administration is hosting a virtual session for those impacted this Friday starting at noon.
