Ellendale woman charged with assault following incident with machete

ELLENDALE, Del. – An Ellendale woman is behind bars following an assault that took place Wednesday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., troopers responded to a residence in the 20000 block of Orchard Road for a reported assault. Troopers met with the 29-year-old male victim, who was reportedly bleeding from a cut on his arm. Further investigation revealed that an acquaintance of the victim, 26-year-old Briana Diedrich, cut him with a machete. The victim was able to get away and call 911 and did not request medical treatment for his injury.

Diedrich was arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second degree assault, aggravated menacing, and terroristic threatening. She was held at SCI on a $33,000 cash bond.
