Easton man charged with filing false police report
EASTON, Md. – An Easton man has been charged after he allegedly filed a false police report.
On July 7th, officers met with 23-year-old Christian Murphy in regard to a reported armed robbery. Murphy reportedly told police that the previous evening, after getting off from work, he was walking to his vehicle in the Aldi parking lot when a man approached him with a firearm and stole his money. The suspect then reportedly fled towards Staples, where Murphy lost sight of him.
After numerous hours of contacting and combing through local businesses’ surveillance video, it was determined that the armed robbery never took place.
As a result, Murphy was served with a criminal summons on Thursday, charging him with five counts of false statement to a police officer and one count of obstructing and hindering a police officer.
