EASTON, Md. – An early morning fire at Easton High School has been ruled accidental.

Officials say the fire broke out at the school shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday. Over 50 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, which took over 90 minutes to control.

Fire investigators say custodian staff were in the process of moving items out of a classroom and had placed electronic equipment on the stove top, inadvertently activating one of the burners. The fire alarm activated and one sprinkler head activated, suppressing the fire.

All of the damage was contained to a single classroom. Total damage was estimated at $3,000.
