Dover man arrested on DUI, weapons charges
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars on DUI and weapons charges following an early morning traffic stop.
At around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, officers stopped a vehicle for hitting a pedestrian crossing sign in the Greentree Shopping Center. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 34-year-old Jamar Hynson, and detected the odor of marijuana and alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. It was also noted that Hynson was showing signs of being impaired by drugs and/or alcohol. Hynson was asked to step out of the vehicle, but refused to comply. He continued to resist and refuse to comply until officers were eventually able to force him out of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a 9mm handgun concealed in the driver’s door. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle Hynson was driving had an expired registration and his license was suspended.
Hynson was taken to the Dover Police Department, where he reportedly continued to refuse to comply with instructions from officers, pushing two officers while in the cell block area.
Hynson was held at SCI on a $12,300 secured bail on a list of charges, including resisting arrest with force or violence, driving while suspended or revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
