Denton garage fire ruled accidental

DENTON, Md. – A fire that destroyed a garage in Denton Friday morning has been ruled accidental.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at around 11:15 a.m., at 28172 Greenwood Road. The blaze was placed under control in 45 minutes.

Further investigation by Maryland State Fire Marshals revealed that the fire was caused by an extension cord causing a spark that subsequently made contact with an accidental gasoline spill by the homeowner. Total damage was estimated at $150,000.
