Damage done in Talbot County after strong storms sweep through Monday night
TALBOT COUNTY, Md. – Talbot County Emergency Services (TCES) is reporting severe damage after a strong storm swept through the area Monday night.
TCES says around 7 p.m., the dispatch center received reports from the area of Tilghman Island. Minutes later, they say reports of additional storm damage from other parts of the county came in.
Damage was done to houses, and downed power lines and trees, say TCES officials. Two homes were deemed uninhabitable by Talbot County building inspectors. Red Cross is assisting displaced individuals. Meanwhile, TCES and Public Works inspected property damage throughout the morning Tuesday.
As of 6 a.m., TCES says the county received more than 15 reports of storm damage around Tilghman Island. By 9 a.m., 20 entries of “moderate damage” were reported.
TCES officials are warning the public of multiple downed power lines on Island Creek and Coopertown Roads. Adding, only a small number of customers experienced outages. Delmarva Power estimates full restoration and repairs by the end of Tuesday. TCES says Public Works will continue to clear trees from roadways and properties until all is removed.
