Coast Guard assists disabled vessel in Chincoteague Bay

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. – The U.S. Coast Guard assisted five people on board a disabled boat just after midnight Wednesday.

We’re told Coast Guard Sector Virginia watchstanders were notified that a 21-foot pontoon boat had suffered an engine casualty and needed assistance near Mosquito Creek in Chincoteague Bay. Crews were launched to help the boaters, who were disabled in an area that was difficult to navigate.

The crew brought the boaters to their nearby campground with no reported injuries.
