Cambridge council members to vote on extended curfew

CAMBRIDGE, MD.– City officials in Cambridge are weighing whether or not to re-implement a curfew for juveniles.

Police chief Justin Todd said the curfew extension would help keep juveniles safe.

“My main goal was not to drop the crime in the city, it was to keep the youth safe. So, February 1st, a curfew went into effect,” Todd said.

Council member Lajan Cephas, who will be voting on the motion, said extending the curfew will not only benefit juveniles, but their parents as well.

“It’s not about criminalizing children– it’s not about criminalizing parents– it’s more about making sure our children are safe,” … Said. “It’s about making sure that we give parents the tools that give them better assistance with managing their kids and keeping them in at decent hours.”
