Bay Health mobile unit to hit the road in coming weeks
HARRINGTON, Del.- It’s day eight at the Delaware State fair and for the crew at bay health, that means serving the community members they care about.
Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, the president of the Bay Health foundation, said the mobile unit is a crucial part of serving patients in Delaware.
“We want folks to understand how critical Bay Health is to the well-being of everyone who lives in central and southern Delaware,” Rhodenbaugh said. “The Bay Health foundation raised the funds to put this on the road.”
Officials say they’re trying to eliminate barriers for those seeking healthcare in the first state, so Bay Health is bringing the nurses to them.
“It’s not always easy to get to a doctors office, and it’s very difficult sometimes to get an appointment with a doctor these days,” Rhodenbaugh said. “This van steps in for us doing the screenings for folks. We can just determine who needs additional care [and] perhaps make sure folks are on the right path, because again, preventative care is so very important.”
Chief Nurse Executive Rosemary Wurster said the healthcare possibilities are endless with the Bay Health van.
“We’re pressing outside of walls,” Wurster said. “Health care and the need is not limited to a hospital or doctors office ,and with our RV, we can bring very important health care to members of the community, wherever they are.”
Bay Health’s vital healthcare team hopes to make a substantial impact on everyone they treat.
“Screenings are a critical part of wellness, whole wellness, of people, particularly people in our community,” Wurster said. “What we want to do is provide for our patients up front and see things coming before they become a problem.”
