4th of July in the resort town of Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Thousands are expected to flock to Ocean City to celebrate the 4th of July in the resort town.

Americans celebrate Independence Day, a victory achieved over 200 years ago in 1776. Many families are celebrating by traveling to Ocean City and enjoying the resort town’s activities, restaurants and getting some sun on the beautiful beach. 

Nany Conde is from Clinton, Maryland and she traveled to Ocean City to make some special 4th of July memories with her children at the beach. 

“We are from Guinea, originally,” Conde said. “So, the kids are born here.” 

“I came here when I was seventeen years old,” Conde said. “We are celebrating the American dream and what freedom really looks like from our perspective.”

In one word, many describe the 4th of July as “Independence”, “Freedom”, “Fireworks”, “Relaxing” and “America.”

Most of all, people of all ages say that spending time with the ones they love is the most important thing on this holiday. Two young brothers are happy to be with their family on such a special day.

“Having time with your family and celebrating America’s independence.”

Businesses also enjoy the holiday with tourists and locals stopping in to shop. Something they look forward to every year. Dorana Midrina is the manager of Paradise Island Beachwear in Ocean City. She is ready for the busy day the holiday will bring to the shop.

“It is the main day for the business and the most important day for the business,” Midrina said. “That actually pays for the whole entire season with just the 4th of July.”

“For me it’s just another day that shows exactly how powerful it can be for people in the U.S.A. and how much they love their country.”
