Wilmington man arrested for rape of juvenile at Dover hotel
DOVER, Del. – A Wilmington man is behind bars following a rape investigation involving a juvenile.
Early Friday morning, police responded to the Days Inn at 272 North Dupont Highway after receiving a call that a man named James had touched a 12-year-old inappropriately inside of a room. Officers arrived at the scene and made contact with an 18-year-old and the 12-year-old, learning that the suspect, 34-year-old James Hinson, sexually assaulted the 12-year-old two times inside of the hotel room and was caught by the 18-year-old. When confronted, Hinson allegedly got into a physical altercation with the 18-year-old before leaving the room.
Officers obtained a physical description of Hinson and began searching the area, locating Hinson nearby. Hinson allegedly provided a false name when he was taken into custody and was found in possession of 7.3 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Hinson was held at SCI on a $136,250 cash bail after being charged with two counts of second degree rape, endangering the welfare of a child, offensive touching, criminal impersonation, and multiple drug related offenses.
