Two Easton residents killed in New Jersey crash
HIGHLAND PARK, Nj. – Two Easton residents were killed in a serious crash Tuesday evening in New Jersey.
According to police, the three-car crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 27 and North 10th Street in Highland Park. Officers arrived at the scene to find that 34-year-old Abeer Virani hit a car occupied by 75-year-old Peter Palmer and 77-year-old Carol Paul, both of Easton. Palmer and Paul were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a third vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Virani suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was later charged with first degree aggravated manslaughter and two counts of second degree vehicular homicide and is being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing.
