Trio arrested on firearm charges in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police charged three people following a firearm investigation Wednesday evening.
At around 5:30 p.m., officers were in the 100 block of Willis Road conducting a firearm investigation when they made contact with 19-year-old Lavar Dickson-Lewis and a group of juveniles. Police say Dickson-Lewis and a 17-year-old male ran from officers, leading them on a pursuit. The 17-year-old reportedly fell to the ground, causing a handgun to fall onto the ground from his clothing.
Police were eventually able to apprehend the pair, and found a second handgun that had been reported stolen. While taking the suspects into custody, a third juvenile, a 15-year-old male, reportedly tried to remove items from the 17-year-old’s pocket and became disorderly, clinching his fist and becoming aggressive toward officers. He was also taken into custody.
Dickson-Lewis was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, and resisting arrest. He was held at SCI on an $8,000 secured bond.
The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. He was released on a $6,500 unsecured bond.
The 15-year-old was charged with resisting arrest, menacing, and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance.
