Dover Officer-Involved Shooting

DOVER, Del. — Dover Police say an officer-involved shooting took place Sunday night.

Around 8:30 PM, Police were called to the 400 block of Sussex Avenue for a trespassing complaint after a female refused to leave a home. When officers arrived, the female and another 37-year-old male were in an altercation, when the male revealed a handgun. They say the man did not comply with officers and in a reported response to an imminent threat to life, the suspect was shot by police. The suspect was taken to Bay Health Kent campus and is in serious condition.

The 2 1/2-year veteran officer has been placed on administrative leave, with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
