Seaford man arrested following months-long drug investigation
SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man is behind bars on numerous charges stemming from a drug investigation that began back in February.
The investigation began on February 13th, when detectives responded to Asbury Road, west of Raccoon Ditch Road in Georgetown after a hunter reportedly found large bags buried in the woods that appeared to contain narcotics. Detectives walked into the wooded area and located the bags, which were found to contain approximately 743.49 grams (over 1.6 pounds) of cocaine and approximately 6,540 baggies containing approximately 45.78 grams (over 1.6 ounces) of suspected heroin.
Further investigation revealed that the drugs belonged to 62-year-old James May. Detectives linked May to a white Cadillac Eldorado, which was seized and searched the next day. As a result of the search, detectives found approximately 25.22 grams of cocaine, approximately 6.65 grams of crack cocaine, and approximately 277 baggies containing approximately 1.939 grams of suspected heroin.
On June 7th, detectives located May driving a silver Nissan Altima on Coastal Highway near Shady Road in Lewes. A traffic stop was initiated, and a search of May and the car led to the discovery of additional narcotics, including, approximately 1.3 grams of cocaine, approximately 3.63 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 52 baggies containing approximately 0.364 grams of suspected heroin, and more than $1,600 in suspected drug dealing money.
May was held at SCI on a $119,000 secured bond on a total of 12 drug offenses.
