One injured in Cambridge shooting, police investigating
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police are investigating a shooting that injured one early Monday morning in Cambridge.
Just before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Greenwood Avenue and the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for a possible shooting victim. When officers arrived at UMSMC, they located a 19-year-old male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. Medical treatment was administered until he was stable enough to be taken to the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had contacted a family member to tell them he had been shot before walking to a residence in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue, where the family member picked the victim up and took him to the hospital. Police were able to track the shooting location to the 900 block of Camelia Street.
A search and seizure warrant was obtained for a residence in that area, but nobody was located. Evidence related to the shooting was found in the residence.
Police say the shooting victim is currently in stable condition.
