Lincoln man arrested following pursuit through Smyrna

SMYRNA, Del. – A Lincoln man is behind bars after he led police on a pursuit Tuesday night.

According to police, a trooper was investigating a violation of a court order at a West Glenwood Avenue residence when the suspect returned in a black SUV. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled southbound on Route 13 and turned onto Big Woods Road, where he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch. Officers with the Smyrna Police Department assisted in taking the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Miguel Fantauzzi-Rivera, into custody. On contact with Fantauzzi-Rivera, troopers observed signs of impairment, and a subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun that was reported stolen out of Columbia, South Carolina.

Fantauzzi-Rivera was charged with receiving a stolen firearm, disregarding a police officer signal, possession of a firearm while under the influence, DUI, breach of release, third degree criminal trespass, and numerous traffic offenses. He was held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an $8,106 secured bond.
