Late night fire damages Pittsville home

PITTSVILLE, Md. – A Pittsville home was heavily damaged by a fire Monday night.

Firefighters with the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to 34733 Railroad Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Crews were able to contain the blaze in roughly 30 minutes.

Fire marshals responded to the scene and determined that the fire was accidental in nature and caused by an unspecified failure of a branch electrical circuit. Total damage has been estimated at $100,000.

We’re told one juvenile was evaluated at the scene by EMS. The home’s occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
