Juneteenth festival set to return in downtown Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- Downtown Salisbury will soon get a splash of red, green, and black with the return of the annual Juneteenth Festival.

The 6th annual event will include the same variety of vendors, live music, and food from local eateries.

The parade which made its debut last year will also make a return. Due to continued growth in the event, organizers say attendees can expect more activities throughout the day.

Outside of all the fun, we’re told a focus will also be on educating the community about the true meaning of the holiday. “We’ll also have various community that will be present who can also speak to not only this history of Juneteenth but history on the shore as a whole in terms of black achievement and history locally. There’s a number of opportunities for people to learn more,” Eastern Shore Juneteenth President Makya Purnell said.

The festival will take place Saturday, June 17th from 1pm-6pm.

Volunteers are still being accepted.
