Governor’s Work Zone Safety Work Group begins work in Md.

MARYLAND – On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller took part in the inaugural meeting of the Governor’s Work Zone Safety Work Group.

This is all in an effort to improve highway safety, specifically for road workers, law enforcement, and motorists who find themselves on the side of the road. Members outlined their goals and initiatives to do just that.

47 ABC spoke with Teri Soos of the Maryland State Highway Administration, who was at the event.

“So we have a sub committee looking at driver behavior and the choices drivers make in work zones. We have a second committee looking at roadway operations, that’s planning design and operation of a work zone and some of the technology that within those work zones,” said Soos.

Soos also told us that there will be 12 members on each sub-committee which will meet with Lieutenant Governor Miller three more times before the end of November.
