Downtown Salisbury Park & Flea Market to close after 21 years

Park Flea Is Closing

SALISBURY, Md. – The Park and Flea Market in Downtown Salisbury will close at the end of the month after 21 years.

The market, located along Route 13 near the Route 50 junction in the City of Salisbury’s Municipal Lot 10, has offered local vendors weekly opportunities to buy, sell, and trade.

The event has been operated on a volunteer basis under the auspices of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that focuses on economic development in Downtown Salisbury through events and the arts. The market has operated on a consistent basis, rain or shine, year round for 21 years, with only a short hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials say a wide variety of factors have gone into the decision to close the market, but the primary considerations are volunteer staff availability and the upcoming redevelopment of Lot 10 to accommodate a new hotel and conference center, which is scheduled to begin construction this fall. We’re told alternative locations were considered, but few locations could offer the same benefits of size, location, and access to city property amenities.

Park and Flea Market’s final day is June 25th.

The Salisbury Arts and Entertainment District is also restructuring phase with rebranding as the Salisbury Arts Alliance, a non-profit moving to a fully volunteer operation and no longer employing a full-time Executive Director starting July 1st.
