Delmar man arrested for stealing car
MILLSBORO, Del. – A Delmar man is behind bars after police say he stole a car Thursday afternoon.
At around 4:15 p.m., a trooper responded to the 22000 block of Daisey Road in Millsboro for a report of a stolen vehicle. It was learned that a dark green Ford Focus had been stolen from the driveway, along with fishing gear that was inside of the car.
At around 7 p.m. that evening, an officer with the Dagsboro Police Department saw the stolen vehicle being driven through town. The vehicle was stopped at the Bodie’s Dairy Market, and the driver, identified as 35-year-old Terry Toomey, was taken into custody.
Toomey was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $1500, driving while suspended or revoked, driving at an unreasonable speed, and third degree criminal trespass. He was released on his own recognizance but was found to have numerous active warrants for his arrest and was ultimately held at SCI on a $22,167 cash bond.
