Crash claims life of one in Camden-Wyoming

6/26 UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in this crash as 29-year-old Joseph Parkinson of Queen Anne, Maryland.

The crash remains under investigation.

CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of one Wednesday night.

Police say at around 9:20 p.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on Willow Grove Vroad, approaching the intersection at Fivefoot Prong Lane, at a high rate of speed. The driver reportedly lost control of the car and veered off the roadway, hitting a tree and catching fire.

The driver of the Malibu has yet to be identified and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the car.
