Bridgeville man arrested on drug charges following pursuit
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – A Bridgeville man is behind bars on drug charges following a pursuit Thursday morning.
At around 9:30 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a moped traveling on Mill Park Drive without a registration plate. The trooper tried to stop the moped in the area of Coverdale Road and Evans Drive, but the driver reportedly fled and drove through several backyards before running into the woods. The trooper chased the driver and eventually reached him and pushed him onto the ground, however, the driver physically resisted being handcuffed and kept reaching toward his waist.
The trooper was eventually able to take the suspect into custody, identifying him as 22-year-old De’Andre Barham. A search of Barham led police to recover approximately 16.51 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 314 baggies containing approximately 2.198 grams of suspected heroin, a prescription pill, and drug paraphernalia. It was also discovered that Barham had two active violation of probation warrants.
Barham was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity, disregarding a police officer signal, resisting arrest with force or violence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic offenses. He was held at SCI on a $24,500 secured bond.
