Boxcar on Main closing doors in downtown Berlin

BERLIN, Md.- One eatery that’s become a local favorite in downtown Berlin will soon close its doors. Boxcar On Main has called Berlin home for nearly 3 years, serving up a variety of fresh seafood dishes to steaks.

The closure comes as the business has seen an increase in expenses like food, labor, and day to day operations.

Despite that, the original location in Pittsville will remain open. Owner Paul Suplee tells 47ABC the goal now is to revitalize that space. “The silver lining in this black cloud is that I get to move some staff from Berlin to Pittsville to get both floors open again. I want to get it back rocking and rolling with live entertainment,” Suplee said.

“It’s going to be exciting because we get to reintroduce some of the old menu items and introduce some new ones to just make it a great happening place to go to.”

Suplee says they will still face the challenge of staffing at the Pittsville location.

He also thanks the Berlin community for all their support and says the restaurant was also embraced by lots of visitors.

Boxcar On Main will also be offering a variety of specials for the final week of business. The last day will be this Sunday, July 2nd.
