Cambridge man arrested following pursuit

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A man was arrested earlier this week in Cambridge after he fled from police.

Just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers received a report of an armed subject wearing a face mask in a vehicle in the 100 block of Cedar Street. Multiple units responded to the area and were able to locate the suspect and vehicle a short time later around Pine Street and Robbins Street. The vehicle came to a stop in the 600 block of Robbins Street, at which point police say a male subject fled from the vehicle, running into a nearby residence. Officers followed the subject into the residence, where he allegedly had discarded items before jumping out of a second floor window and fleeing into a wooded area.

Multiple officers from the Cambridge Police Department and Maryland State Police set up a perimeter, and with assistance from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was located by the K-9 unit. The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Tyree Bryant.

Officers found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun on the driver seat of the vehicle that Bryant fled from A search and seizure warrant was obtained for the residence that Bryant fled into, leading to the recovery of an additional handgun, multiple loaded extended capacity magazines, multiple loaded regular capacity magazines, controlled dangerous substances suspected to be cocaine, multiple items of CDS paraphernalia, 9mm ammunition, and 45 caliber ammunition. Officers also found a dog that had been reported stolen to police.

The dog was picked up by Dorchester County Animal Control and was later returned to its owner. One of the handguns was found to have been reported as stolen from a residence in Hurlock, and Bryant was found to be restricted from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous felony firearm possession and felony CDS distribution charges.

Bryant was arrested on numerous charges, including illegal possession of a regulated firearm, driving on a suspended license, operating an unregistered vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition, and other related offenses.
