Two teens identified as suspects in December 2022 school bus thefts

SALISBURY, Md. – Police have identified two juveniles as suspects responsible for stealing school buses in Wicomico County late last year.

On December 28, 2022, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the report of a stolen Wicomico County Public Schools school bus. The following day, two school transportation vans were also stolen. Further investigation revealed that there were a total of three suspects involved in both incidents.

The stolen school bus and one of the stolen transportation vans were located in Hurlock. The transportation van had been wrecked and was determined to be a total loss, while the second transportation van was found just down the road from the transportation facility.

The total estimated cost to repair the vehicles, including the assessed value of the totaled van, is approximately $29,253.16.

One of the suspects was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, and a second suspect was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile. The third suspect remains unidentified. A request for charges has been submitted to juvenile services for the two identified suspects, including three counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of fourth degree burglary, and three counts of malicious destruction of property over $1,000.
