Smoked chicken initiative supports law enforcement, city employees during Cpl. Glenn Hilliard murder trial
SALISBURY, Md. – 1.2 tons of chicken will soon be smoked as a thank you to law enforcement and other employees working the ongoing Corporal Glenn Hilliard trial.
Doug Marshall and Randy Day are spearheading the initiative.
Over the next few days, meals will be put together for over 400 law enforcement personnel across departments in Wicomico, Sussex, and Worcester Counties.
We spoke with the Fruitland Police Chief who tells us it’s great to see the community come together in this way. “It’s truly amazing that with everything going on in this country with law enforcement and their communities that we here on the lower Eastern Shore still have the ability to reach our community and have that social connection. It’s heartwarming,” Chief Krah Plunkert said.
The chicken was donated free of charge by Perdue Farms.
Those meals will start being prepared Thursday.
