Single vehicle crash claims life of Laurel man

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police say a crash in the Seaford area Saturday night claimed the life of a Laurel man.

Just after 9:30 p.m., police say a 1998 Dodge Dakota was traveling southbound in the left lane of Route 13, just south of Cannon Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved to the right before sliding and spinning across the right lane and then the shoulder of Route 13. The vehicle then went off the west edge of the roadway and through a steep ditch before hitting the support of a large sign.

The driver, identified as 38-year-old Gary Workman Jr., was not properly restrained, according to police. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The southbound lanes of Route 13 were shut down south of Cannon Road for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated.
