UPDATE: Single-vehicle crash claims life of Frederica man

FREDERICA, Del. – An investigation is underway following a fatal single-car crash Wednesday evening.

According to police, at around 6:40 p.m., a green 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling at a high rate of speed on Jackson Street, south of Front Street. The vehicle reached the southern end of Jackson Street, which is blocked by a row of trees, when it reportedly did not slow down and continued off the road, hitting a set of trees, and coming to a stop.

The driver, a 40-year-old Frederica man, was not wearing his seat belt. He sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
