Fire damages garage in Berlin

1280 Woodland Road Fire

BERLIN, Md. – A garage was heavily damaged in a fire Monday evening in Berlin.

Firefighters with the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company responded to 10504 Woodlawn Road at around 5:40 p.m. for a reported house fire. Crews found fire conditions in the garage portion of the home that had been converted into a bedroom. Firefighters were quickly able to control the blaze.

The single occupant of the home suffered minor burn injuries as a result of the fire, but refused EMS treatment.

Fire marshals determined that the fire was accidental in nature and is believed to have been caused by unattended cooking in the garage bedroom.
