Phillis Wheatley Elementary teacher honored as May Teacher Who Makes A Difference

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Congratulations are in order for our May Teacher Who Makes A Difference. This month’s teacher is Jamie Jones!

Ms. Jones is a 4th-grade teacher at Phillis Wheatley Elementary School in a TAM setting. Jones says she’s always wanted to teach and work with children, but being able to build relationships with them and their parents has been the biggest part of her success.

Her students and colleagues say she’s a pleasure to work with and goes above and beyond for each and every one of her students. “It really means a lot to me that somebody took the time to recognize me and all the things I do here,” says Jones.

Jones says she was shocked and honored to receive this award and has this advice for other teachers or those aspiring to be one. She tells us, “Just be encouraging, try to build those relationships and build a rapport with those students and their families right off the bat and that just sets you up for success.”

The Teacher who makes a Difference award is brought to you in part by Pam Price and Associates. Pam and her team helped us surprise the teacher with lots of fun goodies, flowers, and a certificate.
