Memorial Day Community Event at Billy Gene Park in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – A Wicomico county resident helped organize a community event at the local park for people to have some fun for memorial day weekend.

Burgundy Hayward planned the celebration at Billy Gene Park in Salisbury for families to come to enjoy live music, good food and several different vendors selling clothing and other accessories.

“This was my little baby that I wanted to give the people,” Hayward said. “We did one last year just to invite everyone out to get ready for summer now that the kids are getting out of school.”

Hayward says she is apart of Honey Pot Boutique making custom dresses and clothing.

She says she wanted to give the community something they could enjoy with their families on the holiday weekend.

“This was my little baby that I wanted to give the people,” Hayward said. “We did one last year just to invite everyone out to get ready for summer now that the kids are getting out of school.”

Hayward was happy to see community members and loved ones support each other for some good old fashioned family fun.

“Something fun to do that doesn’t involve money Just coming out and having fun with people you like, people you haven’t seen in a while, people you don’t know. Just trying to be friendly.
