Mardela secures Bayside Championship in close win over North Dorchester

SALISBURY, Md – The Mardela Warriors are the 2023 Softball Bayside Champions. They took down the North Dorchester Eagles 4-2 to hand the Eagles their second loss of the season. This game was a rematch of May 4th’s game where Mardela needed a walk-off base hit from Julia Wisk to take home the victory.

Mardela jumped out to an early four-run lead after the second inning before the Eagles trimmed the lead to two in the sixth inning. But Mardela would snuff out the late rally and come away with the win.

“I’m happy the girls have this opportunity, 18 teams in the conference, one of the biggest conferences in the state and to come out of it on top in the regular season and now in the conference championship is pretty cool. When it comes to the state seeding, we’re probably going to be the one seed and they’re going to be the two seed in the 1A. So it’s definitely a big win against a good team and who knows, we might see them again down the road in the states, ” Mardela Head Coach Korey Shiles said after the win.
