HealthFest event connects community to various wellness resources
LAUREL, Del.- After a three-year hiatus, TidalHealth’s annual Health Fest made a big return Saturday afternoon in partnership with the Laurel School District. The goal was to connect the community back to health care.
TidalHealth tells us many individuals stopped their routine check-ups and doctor’s visits due to COVID-19 and this was a way to meet the community where they are.
More than 25 organizations were on site, educating attendees on a variety of health and wellness topics from cancer prevention, pain management, and more. Attendees also got the chance to tour TidalHealth’s new mobile clinic.
There were also free screenings to check one’s blood pressure to their risk for diabetes.
Tidal Health Nanticoke President Penny Short tells us that pre-screenings are key to early detection. “The sooner that you get that identified and can put some measures in place to correct that or heal the easier it is to make a difference in that person’s life,” Short said.
The event also included several demonstrations including healthy cooking techniques.
