Town council approves a dozen new full-time roles for fire personnel in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md.- You’ll soon see an increased presence of fire personnel in Ocean City. The town council recently approved a dozen new full-time positions for the fire department.

The Ocean City Fire Department tells us the process started after analyzing call volume and response times. We’re told the additional staff will provide more coverage and reduce increased overtime.

Community Engagement Officer Ryan Whittington says they can also keep pay competitive, thanks to the recent collective bargaining agreement with the town. “It’s a very competitive package that many folks when they look at it will know that the mayor, council, and our city government has taken an investment in first responders,” Whittington said.

“This is a great opportunity for folks who live on the eastern shore who want to jump start their career. We really want them to consider Ocean City.”

Those interested can apply immediately until April 14th.
