Teen arrested for residential burglary in Lewes
LEWES, Del. – Police arrested a teen in connection to a residential burglary that took place Tuesday afternoon.
Police say they responded to the unit block of Baybreeze Drive after receiving a report of a burglary. According to the female occupant, she was home and in her garage and had left the front and back doors open to enjoy the nice weather. When she walked out of her garage, she saw a male suspect leaving her backyard. The victim immediately went into her residence, at which point she discovered that her purse and other property were missing. Video evidence from cameras she had inside showed the man entering her back door and stealing her purse and other items before he fled.
Officers conducted an area canvass and learned from a neighbor that she had employed a local youth to perform landscaping work at her residence, but that he had left shortly after the crime took place. Based on this, police were able to identify the suspect as 18-year-old Ramairo Shuler and took him into custody at his residence. All stolen items were located and returned to the victim.
Shuler was charged with second degree burglary and theft under $1500 where the victim is 62 years of age or older. He was later released on a $3,000 unsecured bail.
