St. Michaels man arrested for “peeping tom” incidents
ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Police have arrested a man in connection to a “peeping tom” investigation in the St. Michaels area.
On Monday, deputies with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Jefferson Avenue, learning that the residents had checked their video surveillance footage and discovered that a male subject was on their property at around 12:38 a.m. on April 12th. The footage shows the man holding his hands near his groin area.
Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Diego Albarado-Lopez and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody on Tuesday and was held without bond after being charged with two counts of stalking, two counts of harassment, trespassing, and visual surveillance in a private place with prurient intent.
Police say Albarado-Lopez was previously arrested in March 2022 for trying to burglarize the same residence. He was caught in the act by the resident, who detained Lopez until deputies arrived. A press release from that incident generated citizen information about two unreported peeping tom incidents that took place between May and June 2021 and September and October 2021. The caller reported that she say Albarado-Lopez peering into the windows of two different residences in the 100 block of Miles Lane. Albarado-Lopez pled guilty in those cases and received periods of incarceration associated with each case, as well as 36 months of supervised probation.
If anyone has encountered Lopez or has more information, they are asked to contact the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office.
