Smyrna house fire ruled arson, investigation underway

SMYRNA, Del. – A fire that heavily damaged a Smyrna home Thursday night has been ruled arson.

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of East Mount Vernon Street shortly before 10 p.m. for a reported fire inside an unoccupied home. Deputy fire marshals were called to the scene and determined that the fire was intentionally started.

Total damage has been estimated at $100,000. There were no reported injuries.
