SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Mayoral Candidate Jermichael Mitchell is facing reckless endangerment charges stemming from an incident on April 20th.

Police say the incident happened in the 800 block of College Lane. The investigation revealed that Mitchell was loading a 9mm firearm when it fired down into the apartment below, with the bullet landing five feet away from a neighbor who was nursing her child.

Police were able to make contact with Mitchell, who told police that he was heading to the range before the incident occurred. He now faces two counts of reckless endangerment, as well as discharge of a firearm, and could face up to a $500 fine or 90 days behind bars.

47 ABC Reached out to Mitchell for comment. We spoke with his Campaign Manager Kevin Lindsey, he tells us they were surprised by the charges and plan to allow the legal process to play out. Lindsey also said that Mitchell intends to continue running for Mayor of Salisbury.
