Salisbury man sentenced on assault charges in 2022 domestic incident

1280 Jean Dumis

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man has been sentenced on second degree assault charges.

Jean Dumis was sentenced last week to a total of eight years of incarceration after being convicted of one count of second degree assault back in March.

The charges stem from an incident that took place during the early morning hours of April 8, 2022. Police responded to Baker Street for a reported domestic assault, learning that Dumis and the female victim had gotten involved in a verbal altercation that escalated and resulted in Dumis hitting the victim in the face multiple times with a cell phone. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from multiple lacerations, with shards of glass embedded in the victim’s face and head. The victim was also bleeding from a bite to her face.

Police say Dumis had previously been convicted of assaulting the same person on two other occasions.
