Ocean City Restaurant Week kicks off, business boost for participating eateries
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Ocean City Restaurant Week is now underway. Management at the Captain’s Table hope it’s the kickoff to a busy summer season. “A $49 meal nowadays is a pretty good bargain anywhere,” Warman said.
Tucked on the 3rd floor of the Courtyard Marriott lies The Captain’s Table. Their $49 3-course meal is their deal of the week with entree choices from steak, shrimp, and pork chops.
General Manager Mike Warman says they’re hoping to get customers through the doors to see what they offer. “That’s a big part of what restaurant week is. It’s the ability to show what you’re doing to a broader audience,” Warman said.
Just down the road, Assateague Bar & Grill is adding new deals alongside their weekly specials.
The food won’t be the only eye grabber, as management tells us they’ve done a complete re-brand from their name to in house upgrades. “I think that new customers that are experiencing us for the first time are really going to enjoy what they see,” Kitchen Manager Robert Hutchinson said.
Both businesses say restaurant week comes right on time as foot traffic in the resort town starts to pick up. “We happen to be right on the boardwalk so we see a lot of that traffic of beach goers that can just walk right into our restaurant,” Warman said.
“The good thing is that we’re established, and we want to keep our loyal base. We also want to offer a new experience for new customers who’ve come down. They’ve worked hard all year and they want to come down and enjoy their vacation,” Hutchinson said.
Attracting new customers is only part of the plan, we’re told the goal is that they become new regulars. “Especially in a seasonal town like this where we have an influx of business in the summer. What we really want to do is get our name out there and get the local community behind us,” Warman said.
There are several other businesses participating in the week and offering a variety of specials.
