‘It’s truly a very special place:’ Berlin clean-up day sees strong community support

BERLIN, Md. – The Berlin community came together Saturday morning to host their annual clean-up day in honor of Earth Day.

The event was the finale of the ‘Take Pride in Berlin Week’ initiative.

Volunteers hit the streets early, picking up trash all throughout downtown and several parks. They also were out planting flowers.

Economic & Community Development Director Ivy Wells says this year they saw the strongest community response ever. “Once you see the final product, you find such joy in the work that you did,” Wells said.

“And for volunteers to invest their time to help beautify the town of Berlin, it just goes without saying. It’s truly a very special place to live and work.”

Wells also tells us the day couldn’t have been made possible without all the volunteers and several groups including the Public Works department and Restore the Shore.
