FOP, Council and Police remember fallen Cambridge Police Officer
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Fraternal Order of Police has presented the Cambridge Police Department with memorabilia for a fallen officer. Officer Daniel C. Bier was killed in the line of duty on May 3, 1953. The Cambridge-Dorchester Lodge #27 President Thomas Hurley presented a copy of the FOP’s book on his death to the Police Chief at a recent council meeting.
Officials say the book will be kept at the Cambridge Police Department as a record of the events that happened back in 1953. They say it has statements of witnesses and court documents that no longer exist. The book also contains photos of Officer Bier with his wife and family members.
The Council President also mentioned that May 3, 2023 will be the 70th anniversary of Bier’s death.
