Foodie Friday: Picks from Photog Mike

DELMARVA – Foodie Friday has taken us all over Delmarva to partake in tasty treats.

Foodie Photog Mike is back with some of his favorites from the past year.

Starting in Rehoboth Beach, Above the Dunes served up their competition-quality gumbo. Sous Chef Corey developed the recipe to bring together Eastern Shore flavors with this cajun classic. He said the key is creating a dark roux and taking your time with all of your ingredients.

Just up the road at 1776 Steakhouse, the atmosphere is patriotic and they focus on fine cuts of beef. Few steaks make a bigger impact than the tomahawk. Chef loads one side of the steak with a variety of seasonings before throwing it on the grill, flipping the steak only a couple times to allow the surface to cartelize and form a beautiful crust. All of this creates a masterpiece that truly stands on its own.

Finally, nestled away in Milton, Sydney’s Lounge serves up southern classics and lively jazz. Few dishes embody southern flavor better than fried chicken. The crunch, savory and salty notes are always a treat.

Flavors like these keep the foodie motivated to explore every corner of Delmarva for more delicious destinations.
